2019 was a momentous year for British heavy metal heroes
Forged In Black. First and foremost amongst the landmark events they signed
with Spanish label Fighter Records, a true bastion of metal, for the release of
their latest and greatest album, Descent Of The Serpent. The critical response
to Descent... was fantastic with both World Of Metal and Rock Muzine naming it
in their Top 3 albums of the year. The band also made a triumphant return to
Bloodstock Open Air and performed at the Camden Underworld with The Three
Tremors. A great year for Forged In Black was capped off with a special
headline show in their hometown of Southend, where they celebrated their tenth
anniversary as a band. Ten years of British steel, ten years at the forge...
Continuing their anniversary celebrations, Forged In Black
are now proud to present Ten Years At The Forge, a very special digital only
compilation that revisits some classic tracks from the band’s formidable back
catalogue. All the tracks have been completely remastered by Forged In Black
guitarist Chris Bone and his six string, gunslinging partner, Andy Songhurst,
has created some superb artwork that is bound to become an iconic image for
Forged In Black fans. Taking a unique approach the band decided that Ten Years
At The Forge should consist of the title tracks from each of their album and EP
releases, with the bonus addition of their rare 2014 single, The Exodus. The
Exodus was Forged In Black’s first experience of working with renowned producer
Romesh Dodangoda (Motörhead, Bring Me The Horizon, Bullet For My Valentine
etc), who went on to work with the band on their Descent Of The Serpent album.
These tracks brilliantly traverse Forged In Black’s decade in metal, from the
anthemic ‘Forged In Black’ itself to the stone cold, riff packed classic that
is ‘Descent Of The Serpent’. There are two tracks that represent the years that
the band spent working with the much missed Chris Tsangarides (Judas Priest,
Gary Moore, Thin Lizzy etc) and the compilation comes with notes and comments
from the band members on every song. Available exclusively from the Forged In
Black bandcamp page from May 26th, the Ten Years At The Forge package can be
downloaded for a limited time at the ‘name your price tariff’, so make sure you
grab your copy as soon as possible. In Powerplay Rock & Metal Magazine,
reviewer Smudge reflected, “I’ve often been asked where the next big thing in
metal is...for me, Forged In Black are the ones.” If you know Forged In Black you’ll no doubt
